Dine Out to Donate raises $2K
Area businesses hosted single-day fundraiser for Interlakes Area United Way
MADISON, S.D. – More than a dozen eateries in Lake, Miner and Moody County raised approximately $2,000 for Interlakes Area United Way (IAUW) as part of a fundraising event in October.
Fifteen businesses in Madison, Egan, Flandreau, Howard and Ramona hosted Dine Out to Donate events to help kick off IAUW’s annual campaign drive on October 3. Participants agreed to donate a portion of the day’s sales to IAUW’s general fund, which helps support over 40 non-profit agencies and programs in the three-county region.
“What a terrific way to kick off our campaign drive. We are so grateful to the business owners and managers as well as the general public for supporting this event and making it such a success,” said IAUW President Lori Gustaf.

Several business owners gathered recently to present the earnings to IAUW board members.
“We appreciate the opportunity to give back to the community,” said Classic Corner owner Shannon Kauffman. “United Way supports vital services and programs for many people and every little bit helps. We look forward to participating again next year.”
IAUW’s 2018 campaign drive Is currently underway with pledge forms due by December. Immediate donations may qualify for a special promotion.
“This year we’re asking people to take the 15x15 Challenge,” Gustaf said. “Donors who pledge at least $15 a month and turn in their form by November 15 will be entered in a drawing for a $500 gift card to Montgomery’s.”
Pledge forms were mailed to all local postal customers and can be returned to employers or mailed to IAUW at PO Box 132, Madison, SD 57042. You can also give online at www.interlakesunitedway.org.
